Under the care of the Discalced Carmelite Friars
SUMMER IN THE FOREST is a moving documentary of an extraordinary man—Jean Vanier—and of L’Arche, the international organization of which he is the founder. Jean Vanier is one of the most heart-warming saints of our time. He is a Canadian who single-handedly revolutionised the way in which people with an intellectual disability are seen and cared for, by the simple act of inviting them out of institutions and into his home in the 1960s. ‘Meeting’ some of the current residents of that home in Trosly, France, is one of the many highlights of this beautiful film.
The film will be shown only once in Perth at the Cinema Paradiso on Monday 20 May at 7.00pm. This is a fundraiser for L’Arche Perth. Unless a certain number of people book by 10 May the film will not be screened. This is an opportunity not to be missed.

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday 6th March.
Make this Lent different and commit to putting aside 11/2 hours a week to prepare your mind and heart for the season which is the reason for our faith and the reason why we come each week to Mass.
Please see the board in the foyer for information on the small Lenten Reflection groups running once a week from the week of Ash Wednesday for 6 sessions and register your interest.
We are also looking for people who would like to offer their homes as a gathering place for small groups to share in this wonderful program and to journey through the 40 days of Lent together. Invite family or friends to join you Please contact Billie at the parish office if you can host a group in this way – 9276 8500.
This booklet with short personal daily reflections is also suitable for those who cannot attend a group. Cost $10—from Piety Stall or parish office.
