Supporting The Community
Prayers of the Faithful Ministry
Using their skills with words to prepare the Prayers of the Faithful (Intercessory prayers) for Sunday Masses or other Masses as requested, this dedicated team work with the parish priest on a roster basis.
Prior to preparing the prayers, the rostered team member is called to read and reflect on the Word of God, the season of the liturgical year and the intentions of the particular Mass for which they are assisting, them to be open to the Holy Spirit in drawing out the prayers from their reflection and to be sensitive to the feelings of those we pray for and those we pray on behalf of.

Collectors Ministry
The collector teams work together at each Sunday Mass to quickly and efficiently to ensure all the congregation are allowed the opportunity to contribute financially to the parish via the first and second collections. Each team has a team co-ordinator whose job is to ensure all the team is present and to communicate any special instructions where there is any change to the usual collection process.
Members of the collectors teams are usually those who regularly attend the same Masses each week, so there is no need for a roster.

Parish Pastoral Council
Our Parish Council comes together every six weeks, with the Parish Priest to discern the ongoing needs of the parish and make decisions about how to enhance our parish life. Faith is an entirely free gift that God makes to all. To live, grow and persevere in the faith until the end we must nourish it with the word of God; we must beg the Lord to increase our faith; it must be “working through charity,” abounding in hope, and rooted in the faith of the Church. Serving our community in ministry enables ‘working through charity’ to bear fruit for both the minister and the members of the community. Jesus shows us how to serve – in humility and with unconditional love.

Hospitality
If you enjoy connecting with people and are keen to ensure everyone is welcomed to our liturgical and community celebrations then this ministry is for you. Ushering people to their pew, serving tea and coffee are extensions of this ministry.
Joining this ministry is a great way to meet different people.
Church Cleaning
Many hands make light work! To keep our church sparkling clean new volunteers are always welcome. Several teams clean at a variety of times so there will be a time that suits you.
Liturgy
There are many roles and ministries that serve the liturgy. The Church Documents require all liturgical ministers to be formed and trained in their selected ministry. If you would be interested in undertaking formation to serve at Mass, please contact the parish office.
Altar Ministers
Senior altar ministers can be women and men. A formal training in this ministry is required before serving at the altar.
Junior altar ministers can be girls or boys. The children can commence in the ministry usually after they have received their first Holy Communion. They are trained in the parish and are supported to carry out their role. Parents are especially welcome to become involved and help their child and the coordinator in this ministry. As the children become of age, they can serve as senior ministers into adulthood.
Proclaimers
Proclaiming the Word of God to all. If you are interested in proclaiming the Word of God to our community, please contact parish office. There is a training session before you commence in the ministry so you become familiar with the sound system and the layout of the church.

Communion To The Sick
An extension of the extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, taking communion to those who cannot come to Mass.
Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion
If you would like to assist the priest and serve the community as an extraordinary minister of Holy
Communion there are 4 steps.
- Introduce yourself to one of the priests. They need to know you to undertake this ministry.
- Undertake the training run by the Archdiocese of Perth.
- Attend a practical session run in the parish.
- Contact the parish office for further information.
Baptismal Preparation Programme
To assist parents with the baptism of their child, the parish requires attendance at the Baptismal Preparation Programme. This one-off session is facilitated by our committed parish leaders and can open up conversations about life, faith and the amazing journey ahead.
Flowers In The Church
The use of living flowers and plants, rather than artificial greens, serves as a reminder of the gift of life God has given to the human community. Fresh flowers need to be tended to and replenished with care. Our church is large and arrangements need to be large in proportion.

Music
Share your talent for singing or playing a musical instrument. Music is central to worship and adds another layer giving glory to God. Singing or playing music for liturgy also requires specific training. All of this is available.
Audio-Visual IT
Being comfortable with the parts of the mass, the music and knowledge of all things IT will be essential to carry out this ministry.
Catechists
Working with parish children in the Parish Religious Education Program for primary school – aged children who do not attend Catholic schools. The Catechist Service provides the initial training and formation which enables those who wish to share their faith with children to become commissioned Catechists. Ongoing training and formation is also offered (in the areas of Theology, Scripture, Spirituality and Religious Education) so that catechists continue to mature in their own faith journey and in the skills needed for their ministry.
Personal Advocacy Service
A volunteer from the parish is linked (with support) one to one with a person with intellectual disabilities. Together they develop in faith by sharing life experiences and finding God in their midst within a suitable program designed for people with intellectual disabilities. With training, the volunteer is commissioned as a catechist for people with special needs. Infant Jesus parish has offered a monthly adapted liturgy, where all can participate, for over 30 years

Maintenance
The church and its grounds are large. There are always tasks to be done.
Volunteer for a regular hour or two or half a day. The task to be completed will fit in with the time you have to give.
Gardening
Our grounds and gardens cover a large area and there is always plenty of work to be carried out routinely. Tending the roses, pruning, raking.
Friends of the Columbarium
Friends of the Columbarium are volunteers who care for the area and ensure it is kept clean and tidy and the roses are cared for so they look their best.
Bereavement Support
A compassionate group of committed parishioners who assist and support parish families that have suffered a recent loss. The group meets once a month to greet the families’ members at the monthly memorial Mass for the bereaved and offer refreshments and companionship in the parish centre after the Mass.
Infant Jesus Playgroup
Bringing local families together through play and learning. A fantastic opportunity for the little ones (0-4 years) to develop their social skills, physical activity, and imagination in a safe space. It is also a time for parents to not only play and interact with their child, but to develop their own friendship and social network.
Youth Initiative
Young people are our future. We want them to love Christ and to join us in the life of the church too.
At times variety of initiatives will be trialled and the young people will have a voice in ensuring the church is a place they can call home; a spiritual home.

Vinnies
St Vincent de Paul or ‘Vinnies’ – Morley/Dianella Chapter.
The Vinnies chapter meet weekly on Tuesday evening in the Parish Centre.
We welcome volunteers over 18.
