Marriage
Marriage is a unique human relationship. There is no other relationship which requires so total a commitment of one person to another.
If you are considering Infant Jesus Church as the venue for your wedding ceremony, please note that it is important to speak to one of the priests before making the wedding arrangements.
Both State and Church
Both State and Church strongly advises marriage preparation courses to be undertaken.
The State
The state requires that notice of intention to be married be received by the celebrant between six and eighteen months before the wedding ceremony is to be celebrated.
The Catholic Church
The Catholic Church requires that one party be Catholic, have received the sacrament of Confirmation, and that both parties are free to marry.
Celebrant
Any Catholic bishop, priest or deacon registered as an authorised minister of religion in the Archdiocese of Perth or another diocese of Australia may officiate.
The priest or deacon must also have the faculties of the Archdiocese and a Working With Children Card in accordance with state legislation. An ACMR number is required.
